Bangkok, 25 April 2024 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is calling on hotel operators and tourists to join its ‘CF-Hotels’ initiative aimed at combating climate change. By participating in this project, both the hospitality industry and travelers can contribute to reducing environmental impacts.
Online Platform for Environmental Inventory and Carbon Footprint Calculation
The creation of the www.cf-hotels.com platform allows hotel and lodging operators to keep track of their environmental performance by documenting energy, water, waste, and greenhouse gas data. This information can help businesses understand their carbon footprint, make sustainable management decisions, and ultimately reduce greenhouse gas emissions to lower energy expenses.
Benefits for Hotels and Tourists
Participating hotels can showcase their environmental efforts through the database, potentially leading to STAR certification and recognition at the Thailand Tourism Awards. Tourists can support these sustainable initiatives by choosing to stay in one of the 160 hotels that are currently part of the CF-Hotels network across Thailand. The TAT’s collaboration with Chiang Mai University highlights their commitment to promoting Net Zero Tourism and sustainable practices in the industry.
