MakeMyTrip’s report reveals that Thailand is the top honeymoon destination for Indian couples, with a shift towards longer trips and multi-destination travel. Domestic preferences changed, favoring the Andamans over Kerala.

MakeMyTrip’s report, ‘How India Travels for Honeymoon,’ analyzes booking data from October 2023 to September 2024, revealing trends in couples’ travel preferences. Thailand emerged as the top honeymoon destination for Indian travelers, with a 5.2% year-on-year increase in bookings, surpassing the Maldives, which experienced a 16.2% decline. Domestically, the Andamans replaced Kerala as the most popular honeymoon spot, with a 6.9% rise in bookings, while Kashmir moved to third place. Interestingly, couples are increasingly choosing multi-destination trips, with 39% exploring four or more cities domestically, up from 35% the previous year.

Rajesh Magow, Co-founder and Group CEO of MakeMyTrip, emphasized the significance of personalized and luxurious experiences for honeymooners. As travel trends evolve, the company aims to provide tailored options for couples seeking unforgettable journeys. The report highlights a shift toward longer honeymoons, with 42% of international travelers booking trips exceeding five days.
