On 26 October 2025, the Tourism Authority of Thailand celebrated United Airlines’ inaugural flight from Los Angeles to Bangkok. This marks the airline’s return after over 11 years. The daily service operates via Hong Kong, boosting convenience for North American travelers and highlighting Bangkok’s role as a major Asian gateway. With connections from United’s San Francisco hub, this route is poised to strengthen ties between the two nations.
Grand Welcome in Bangkok
Suvarnabhumi Airport hosted a special ceremony with a traditional water salute for the arriving flight. Key figures present included the U.S. Ambassador to Thailand and TAT Governor. Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool emphasized the new service as a milestone, enhancing tourism and economic links while attracting American travelers to Thailand’s unique experiences.
Growing Tourism and Economic Impact
Thailand continues to be an attractive long-haul destination for American travelers, characterized by significant spending power and a high demand for quality travel. From January 1 to October 24, 2025, the country welcomed 808,288 American tourists, marking a 5 percent increase compared to the same timeframe last year. This positions the U.S. among the top ten markets for Thailand. Visitor numbers are anticipated to keep increasing in the last quarter, with estimates suggesting that American arrivals might hit 1.09 million by the end of the year, resulting in approximately 62 billion Baht in tourism revenue.
