Vocational education stepped up for ASEAN

Thai Ministry of Education will push forward the development of vocational education to meet the market demand and the upcoming free labor transfer within the ASEAN region in the future.

Speaking in a seminar regarding labor development, Deputy Education Minister of Thailand  Narisara Chawaltanpipat stated that her ministry would improve curricula and personnel to meet the demand of the labor market. She noted that assessments on skill development would also be made.

Ms Narisara added that the ministry would boost the skills and potential of vocational students to prepare them for the upcoming free labor transfer in the ASEAN region, which would take place in 2015 along with the ASEAN Free Trade Area and the ASEAN Community establishment.

Foreign capital still heads to Vietnam

As many as 798 projects added a combined over 5.11 billion USD to their investment capital, down 23 percent year-on-year in project number but up 6.8 percent in value.

Hanoi (VNA) – The total amount of foreign investment poured into Vietnam this year to September 20 reached 21.2 billion USD, equivalent to 81.8 percent of the same period last year, reported the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
