Increasing prices drive Cambodia’s rubber

Rubber production in early 2012 increased 21 per cent when compared to the end of 2011, according to Mak Kim Hong, president of the Cambodian Rubber Association. He said yesterday that the price of one tonne of good-quality rubber rose to US$3,800 in early 2012, compared to $3,150 late last year. Total exports last year reached 46,727 tonnes and $200.93 million, a more than 55 per cent increase from 2010’s 30,040 tonnes at $86.76 million, according to date from the Ministry of Commerce. Cambodia is the main rubber supplier to China, Malaysia and Singapore.
