Deputy Finance Minister Julapun Amornvivat confirmed that Phase 3 of the digital money system remains on track for completion by March 2025.

Key Takeways

  • Deputy Finance Minister Julapun Amornvivat announced that Phase 3 of the digital money system remains on schedule for completion by March 2025, with senior citizen payments planned for January 29. The Digital Government Development Agency is considering a sandbox approach to ensure smooth functionality, with a full rollout in Q2 2025.
  • The three-number lottery, or N3 lottery, has seen limited public interest since launching. Currently undergoing sandbox testing until April, the system has restricted distribution channels. The government will conduct a thorough review to determine if the N3 lottery can complement existing lotteries and preserve the state lottery’s market share.
  • Both the digital money system and the N3 lottery are under strict observation. Future decisions will rely on ongoing evaluations and public feedback, as assured by Julapun. Testing for the digital money system is scheduled to begin in early 2025, with additional beneficiary groups set to be included gradually.

Payments to senior citizens will begin on January 29 as planned. Julapun mentioned that the system is presently in development, with testing anticipated in February or March. The Digital Government Development Agency (DGA) is managing this phase and is contemplating a sandbox approach to ensure flawless operation.

Regarding the N3 lottery, Julapun noted that public interest has been limited since its introduction. Currently in a sandbox testing phase until April, the N3 lottery has restricted distribution channels and is under evaluation. The government aims to determine if the N3 lottery could replace underground and traditional lotteries without impacting the state lottery’s market share. Ongoing evaluations and public feedback will guide future decisions.
