Nestlé is investing over 6.4 billion baht in pet food production in Thailand, aiming for export to major markets. The projects emphasize local raw materials, enhancing the country’s food manufacturing and export capacity.

Key Points

  • Nestlé is investing over 6.4 billion baht to enhance pet food production at Amata City Rayong, responding to rising global demand. The Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI) approved two noteworthy projects: 4.5 billion baht for pet food manufacturing and 1.93 billion baht for pet treats.
  • More than 90% of the output from these projects will be exported to major markets such as the U.S., Canada, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. Thailand ranks as the second-largest global pet food exporter, with an industry growth rate exceeding 8% annually.
  • The initiatives will utilize over 450 million baht in locally sourced raw materials each year. With about 56% domestic inputs for pet food production and 88% for treats, these expansions are part of Nestlé’s larger investment strategy in Thailand, which includes over 29 billion baht in projects by 2026.
