# Thailand suspends 2.14 million unregistered mobile phone numbers

Individuals holding between six and 100 unregistered SIM cards are affected, and
failure to register within the next 30 to 45 days will result in permanent revocation
of the numbers.

 * The NBTC has temporarily suspended 2.14 million mobile phone numbers due to owners
   failing to meet the identity registration deadline to enhance security and prevent
   fraud.
 * Individuals holding between six and 100 unregistered SIM cards have had their
   call, SMS, and internet services suspended, with a warning that failure to register
   within 30 to 45 days will result in permanent revocation and redistribution of
   the numbers.
 * The NBTC is conducting a review of 80 million mobile phone numbers linked to 
   over 113 million mobile banking accounts to ensure alignment of SIM card ownership
   with account holders, with the process expected to conclude by the end of September.

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has temporarily
suspended 2.14 million mobile phone numbers whose owners did not meet the identity
registration deadline. This action aims to enhance security and prevent fraud associated
with unregistered mobile numbers.

Individuals holding between six and 100 unregistered SIM cards are affected, and
failure to register within the next 30 to 45 days will result in permanent revocation
of the numbers. The NBTC is also reviewing mobile phone numbers connected to mobile
banking accounts to verify ownership alignment. Additionally, unauthorized cell 
signal boosters in border provinces are being addressed to ensure secure and compliant
telecommunications operations.

The Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) assigned NBTC to review 80 million mobile
phone numbers linked to 113 million mobile banking accounts to ensure SIM card ownership
matches account holders. The review is expected to be completed by the end of September.
