New tourism segment from Israel – first time “kosher” event in Pattaya
April 20, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm BMT
Pattaya, 20 April, 2019 – The Israeli outbound market to Thailand has gone through major changes during the last two decades and especially the last four years. What was once a marginal source market mainly of low-budget backpackers, has become a major market mainly of big spending high-end couples and families.
In 2018, 189,000 Israelis visited the Kingdom, compared to 133,000 in 2013 and 64,000 in 2003. During the first two months of 2019, the Israeli arrivals increased by 10%.
The strategy for the Israeli market has been defined as putting a major emphasis on the development of new growth-potential and quality segments. These efforts included Arab Israelis, honeymoons, sport lovers and a booming LGBT audience.
A new important segment from the Israeli market, relates to those Jews from Israel and abroad who follow the religious culinary “kosher” restrictions but faced a big challenge while traveling to Thailand.
In order to open the gates of Thailand for this high-end segment, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Rome Office is supporting a project developed by a private Israeli company, Royal Club Kosher. This organisation has booked all 227 rooms of the Renaissance Hotel in Pattaya for a period of 11 days during the Jewish Passover (“Pesach”) holidays from 18 April 2019. The program is based on Half Board – all fully adherent to the kosher rules.
The project could be a great importance to motivate tens of thousands of religious Israeli and Jewish couples and families who until now refrained from traveling to Thailand, to come and explore the beauty of the Kingdom.
On 20 April, 2019, at 18.00 Hrs., a press meeting was held at Renaissance Hotel in Pattaya for the Thai media. This included a meeting with the organisers who will explain the background of this unique project and a festive dinner with all the 600 participants.
