Thailand set to host the 6th BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok in September 2024

Thailand will host the sixth Bimstec Summit in Bangkok on September 4, led by Foreign Affairs Minister Maris Sangiampongsa. Bimstec includes Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.

Additionally, the Bimstec Young Entrepreneur Forum will occur to foster dialogue among young business leaders. Maris met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss Thailand’s strategic market position. The retreat also focused on cooperation in sustainable development, the digital economy, disaster management, and non-traditional security issues.

Thailand will host the sixth Bimstec Summit in Bangkok on September 4, with Foreign Affairs Minister Maris Sangiampongsa presiding over the event. Bimstec, short for the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation, consists of member states Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.

This forum seeks to facilitate dialogue among young business leaders from member countries.

Maris also advocated for increased collaboration on non-traditional security issues such as food security, human security, and energy security.
