Isuzu Motors Ltd. said Friday it will move its operation to develop small pickup trucks to Thailand in April from the Fujisawa plant in Kanagawa Prefecture.

The automaker has decided on the move to expeditiously market products that meet local needs as Thailand is Isuzu's largest market for small pickup trucks.

Associated personnel in Japan will be dispatched to Thailand or transferred to other sections for vehicle development.

Sales of small pickup trucks account for around 30 percent of Isuzu's overall sales and about 70 percent of the trucks are exported to Thailand.

In Thailand, Isuzu will develop a new pickup truck model to succeed the existing one that was put on sale in 2002. (Kyodo)
