Thailand’s pet market grows 10% yearly, peaking at 16% in 2022. The pet population reached 20 million. Companies expand due to competition and consumer trends, especially in pet food exports.
Dr. Kritika Chaisupattanakul, CEO of Thonglor Pet Hospital, reported that Thailand’s pet market typically experiences a 10% annual growth. However, during the Covid-19 pandemic, growth surged, reaching 16% in 2022 before normalizing to 10% in 2023. For 2024, growth is projected at 7-9%.
Currently, Thailand is home to around 20 million pets, including 12 million dogs and 8 million cats. The country boasts approximately 3,500 pet hospitals, with the majority being small facilities.
Thonglor Pet Hospital aims to expand by developing partnerships and enhancing pet healthcare and well-being, aspiring to make Thailand a Southeast Asian hub for veterinary services. Meanwhile, competition rises as new clinics open, reflecting a growing market.
