American Magazine “International Living” has placed Thailand at number-9 on its Global Retirement Index or the list of world’s greatest retirement destinations.

The index takes into account such factors as affordability, convenience, kindness of locals, health system, and weather conditions. The findings stated that Thailand is like heaven on earth, where retired people can live a luxurious life without having to spend a lot of money.

Thailand is listed as one of the top-10 countries for retired Americans, while another poll shows that the country has been among 20 countries most visited by British travelers.

The number-1 on the list is Ecuador with a score of 91 out of 100, followed by Panama, Mexico, Malaysia, Columbia, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Spain, Thailand, and Honduras.

Thailand and Malaysia are the only 2 Asian countries that made it to the list

“International Living” also stated that retired Americans can live a happy life in Thailand, with only 500 US dollars to spend a month or around 15,000 baht, which they receive as pension from the US government.

Furthermore, CNN’s travel website “CNNGo” revealed its survey on the most visited places for British people, which placed Thailand at number-13 on its Travel Trend 2012 list.

The same survey also listed the capital Bangkok at number-8 on the list of British travelers’ most popular searched cities on the web.
