# Commerce Ministry plans to elevate Thailand’s soft power promotion to create 20 million jobs

## The Ambitious Plan of the Ministry of Commerce

The Ministry of Commerce has set ambitious goals to promote and market eleven “soft
power” sectors, aiming to create 20 million jobs for Thais and approximately 4 trillion
baht in annual income. Commerce Minister Phumtham Wechayachai made this announcement
at a soft power forum.

## The Eleven Soft Power Sectors

The sectors targeted for promotion include tourism, festivals, sports, food, movies,
music, arts, books, games, fashion, and designs.

## Promoting Thai Soft Power Internationally

To achieve these targets, the Department of International Trade Promotion plans 
to lead Thai business delegations to participate in overseas trade exhibitions. 
The goal is to showcase Thai soft power and increase exports of Thai products, with
events such as the Asian Content & Film Market in South Korea, the TIFFCOM in Japan,
and the Anuga trade fair for food and beverages in Germany. Soft power is expected
to drive the Thai economy and culture to international recognition, ultimately leading
to changes in the Thai business sector.
