Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has promised with the press that the media protection law will be proposed very soon as part of the media reform policy of the Government.
Speaking at the media party at the Emerald Hotel last night, the Prime Minister reiterated the Government’s determination to guarantee press freedom and welcome opinions from all sides, especially the media, in order to improve its own work.
Prime Minister Abhisit then announced that the Government would press ahead with the media reform policy. He expected his office Minister Ongart Klampaiboon to propose the media protection law to the Cabinet very soon to ensure that media members could work freely and efficiently.

In addition, the Prime Minister pledged that the Government would improve its own media outlets, making them operate in line with the media reform policy, which includes allowing all sides to express their opinions. He also expected co-operation from all sides to push for the passage of the bill.
