South Korea, Italy and Russia were among nations that cautioned their citizens about travelling to Bangkok after 21 people were killed and 858 injured as protesters clashed with Thai troops.

Russians should “refrain from visiting Bangkok until the normalization of the internal political situation,” the Moscow- based Foreign Ministry said yesterday. The Dutch government advised against all “non-essential” travel to the Thai capital, and South Korea raised its travel alert one level to “cautious”.
