CenCar Co, the operator of Carrefour hypermarkets, has recently introduced a supermarket format to serve communities near Suwintawong.
The new format, which opened at the end of last month, covers about 10,000 square metres including the 2,000- square-metre Carrefour Market, the company's first supermarket in Thailand.
The 200-million-baht outlet is designed in brown and orange tones and focuses on fresh items and groceries. The company estimates that it has created 150 jobs.

Poomsak Phatan, the company’s merchandise manager for clothing, said the second branch of Carrefour Market would open on April 29 in the Rom Klao area.
Mr Poomsak said CenCar planned to open from 8 to 10 new outlets this year. But, it will focus on stores sized about 2,000 sq m, mainly on the outskirts of Bangkok. The shift to smaller stores is to speed up expansion and to achieve faster break-even and higher profits.
