steps to reduce landfill use. The trip followed a meeting with executives of the
local administrative organization and included representatives from the Provincial
Administrative Organization, Phuket City Municipality, and other local authorities.

The governor warned that the existing landfill area of more than 100 rai may not
be sufficient in the long term. He urged the rapid implementation of food waste 
separation to reduce the volume of waste sent to landfill sites, noting that the
process can begin right away using existing trucks and equipment without major additional
investment.

Governor Nirat encouraged local authorities to start with practical, manageable 
actions and expand them over time, stressing that early progress would help ease
pressure on the province’s waste system. Flexible approaches tailored to local conditions
were also encouraged to ensure effective implementation.
