The Thai government will reconsider if it still needs to borrow a fund worth 200 billion baht (6.02 billion U.S. dollars) to boost the domestic economy, if the economy continues to recover next year, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said Thursday.
The money is planned to be injected into the government’s second economic stimulus package.
The government is still confident that during this fourth quarter of 2009, the country’s economy will post a positive growth rate, Thai News Agency quoted Abhisit as saying.
And, for the whole 2009, the Thai economy is estimated to contract 3.0-3.5 percent, Abhisit said.
However, the country’s economy in 2010 is expected to grow about 3.5 percent, the prime minister said.
