When Donald Trump announced that Thailand and Cambodia had agreed to “cease all
shooting,” Bangkok responded with something rare in international politics: a public,
unambiguous _no_. Within hours, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul made it clear
that no such truce existed, that Thai forces were still engaged along the border,
and that the former U.S. president’s version of events belonged more to social‑media
theatrics than to real‑world diplomacy.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has **flatly denied** U.S. President Donald Trump’s
assertion that Thailand and Cambodia agreed to “cease all shooting.” Instead, Anutin
says Thailand will **continue military operations** until it no longer faces threats
to its land or people.

Based on statements from the prime minister, army generals, and the country’s top
diplomat, it is evident that Thailand is unlikely to scale back its military operations
against Cambodia anytime soon, as clashes along multiple border areas persist for
the fourth consecutive day.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on Tuesday reiterated his government’s unwavering
support for the armed forces in their operations addressing Cambodian aggression.

“There’s no turning back now. We have committed our unwavering support to the armed
forces to continue their operation,” he stated when asked by a reporter if his government
might consider halting the military action, as the previous administration did during
the peak of border skirmishes in late July.

Thailand’s stance is clear: its national security is not a stage for others’ political
narratives. By refuting Trump’s assertion and firmly labeling the landmine blast
as an attack rather than an “accident,” Bangkok highlighted the growing divide between
performative diplomacy and the arduous, perilous task of safeguarding its territory.

This is not just a rebuttal. It’s a reminder that Southeast Asian states are no
longer willing to let outside powers narrate their conflicts for them.
