Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij will lead a mission to Japan from Friday until Sunday to meet with investors, while antigovernment protesters rally in Bangkok.
Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva this week cancelled his state trip to Australia and New Zealand scheduled for the same time as the political situation intensified and the government announced it would invoke the Internal Security Act in the greater Bangkok area.
Korn said he would lead a team of officials and business people to Japan on those days to explain the political situation and Map Ta Phut dispute to investors there.
He praised Japanese investors for longterm commitments in Thailand, calling them “good friends”.
