of the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) held an educational exhibit and
presentation in conjunction with World Mental Health Day, highlighting the modern

an open house held by the Founding Church of Scientology in Washington, DC.

The presentation explored the shift in recent years in international standards towards
patient-centered, consensual, rights-based care and the need for adequate disclosure

A pop-up exhibit at the Founding Church, tracing the history of mental health practices
from the early days to the current attention on the preservation of human rights,

The presentation is part of CCHR’s ongoing educational campaign promoting rights-
based mental health practices that align with international mental health standards,

Those attending the open house were invited to take CCHR educational materials to
use in their own groups and activities. They were also encouraged to volunteer to
help forward CCHR’s outreach to the public with materials, lectures, exhibits and
other presentations. CCHR has chapters across the United States and around the world
advancing this campaign.

of Scientology and the late psychiatrist and professor of psychiatry Thomas S. Szasz,
