Bangkok, Thailand, August 25, 2026 — On August 20, CNPC’s E-Light Global Green Public
Welfare Initiative, themed “Climate Action and Ocean Conservation”, was held at
the Bang Pu Nature Education Centre in Samut Prakan Province, Thailand. Hosted by
the China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Co., Ltd. (CPP), the event focused on coastal
ecological protection and served as a bridge for green exchanges between China and
Thailand, drawing broad support from local authorities and the public. Representatives
from the Public Relations Department of the Prime Minister’s Office of Thailand,
local employees of CNPC’s affiliated companies in Thailand, members of the Thai
community, and Chinese and Thai media outlets participated in the event.

Mangroves are among the most important marine ecosystems in Southeast Asia. Widely
known as “coastal guardians” and “green lungs of the ocean”, they play a vital role
in purifying seawater, buffering wind and waves, preserving biodiversity, and sequestering
and storing carbon. Anchored in mangrove conservation, this CNPC E-Light international
communication initiative turned the concept of green development into tangible action
for the public good, demonstrating CNPC’s sincere aspiration and sense of responsibility
in joining hands with all sectors of Thai society to advance green ecological development,
protect our blue seas and skies, and build a better future together.

At the event, staff from the Bang Pu Nature Education Centre gave an educational
presentation on the ecological functions and conservation value of mangroves, provided
a hands-on demonstration of the key steps involved in planting mangrove saplings,
and answered questions about mangrove cultivation and ecological protection. After
the presentation, Chinese and Thai participants formed groups and worked together
seamlessly, following established planting procedures to complete a series of tasks,
including digging holes, positioning the saplings, backfilling, firming the soil,
and watering. With a clear division of labor and close cooperation, they took concrete
action to bring new greenery to the coastal ecosystem. A total of 180 high-quality
mangrove saplings were planted, injecting fresh vitality into the ecological restoration
of the local coastal wetlands.

“I am very glad to have been invited to join the planting activity. I truly felt
CNPC’s commitment to environmental protection”, said Kollatee, a local resident.
She added that the event gave her a more direct understanding of CNPC’s active fulfillment
of social responsibility, commitment to environmental protection, and engagement
with the local community.

The event also featured the unveiling ceremony for the CNPC E-Light Cultural Exchange
Center (Thailand). Xu Lan, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand,
and Shen Zhong, Deputy Director of the Corporate Culture Department of CNPC, jointly
unveiled the base. The base will focus on science and innovation education, and
will regularly host activities such as energy science programs, AI innovation education,
and Chinese folk culture experiences, with the aim of inspiring young people’s interest
in green energy and digital and intelligent technologies and nurturing a new generation
of talent for sustainable development.

Plant a tree, protect a sea, connect two hearts. The 180 mangrove saplings now taking
root along the Bang Pu coastline and growing in the sea breeze stand as a green
testament to China-Thailand friendship and a vivid expression of the E-Light brand’s
commitment to protecting the Earth through green development. Going forward, CNPC
will continue to leverage the E-Light international communication brand as a platform
for exchange, working with all sectors of Thai society to safeguard coastal ecosystems
and write a new chapter in green cooperation and people-to-people connectivity.

CNPC has always actively embraced the philosophy of green development. Through initiatives
in overseas ecological protection and community engagement, the company has continued
to deepen green cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, promoting people-
to-people connectivity and mutual learning among civilizations. The intertwined
roots and everlasting vitality of mangroves mirror the enduring friendship between
China and Thailand. CNPC will continue to build green momentum and foster a shared
commitment to cooperation, drawing on the beauty of ecological conservation to strengthen
friendship and injecting lasting impetus into deeper all-round China-Thailand cooperation
and regional green and sustainable development.
