of Nursing in the College of Health Sciences has achieved another benchmark: recent
graduates of the Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program attained a
100% first-time pass rate on their accrediting examination.

The exam is administered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Those
who pass the exam earn the credential Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner–
Board Certified (PMHNP-BC). The certification validates preparation to provide psychiatric
and mental-health care across the lifespan and is generally a key step — along with
state requirements — toward advanced-practice nursing authorization/licensure as
a PMHNP.

Ohio is suffering from a shortage of both nurses and mental health practitioners,
while at the same time the state is experiencing a rising need for mental health
