# New International Flight Connections to U-Tapao–Rayong–Pattaya International Airport

**Bangkok, June 18, 2024 – Thailand’s Tourism Office and U-Tapao Airport are welcoming
new flights from SCAT Airlines originating from Almaty, and AirAsia originating 
from Kuala Lumpur. The focus is on attracting international tourists, with incentives
on landing fees.**

## Strategic Initiatives and Incentives

TAT and U-Tapao Airport are integrating strategies to attract international flights
from key markets, including India, Vietnam, China, Russia, and Kazakhstan. Airlines
are offered incentives on landing and parking fees. The TAT Deputy Governor for 
International Marketing emphasized the ‘Airline Focus’ strategy, mentioning a strategic
partnership with Kazakhstan’s leading tour operator KOMPAS, and SCAT Airlines, resulting
in a new charter service from Almaty.

## Expanding Tourism Opportunities

SCAT Airlines plans to operate a charter flight every seven to ten days using its
Boeing 797 Max-9 aircraft, marking its second service between Kazakhstan and Thailand.
AirAsia will operate three flights weekly with its Airbus A320. These connections
bolster Thailand’s tourist appeal, particularly on the east coast, including popular
spots like Pattaya, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat. Thailand saw 172,282
visitors from Kazakhstan last year, with a 19.39% increase this year, and continues
to welcome numerous visitors from Malaysia.
