Thailand’s Tourism Authority partners with Baidu to boost Chinese tourism in 2025, leveraging digital tools and AI for cultural exchange and enhancing tourist experiences. This aims to strengthen Thailand-China ties.
Strengthening Thai-Chinese Tourism Relations
On February 28, 2025, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) announced a strategic partnership with Beijing Baidu Netcom Science Technology. A Letter of Intent (LOI) was signed to bolster Thailand’s appeal among Chinese tourists. By leveraging Baidu‘s advanced AI capabilities and expansive digital platforms, TAT aims to enhance the nation’s tourism allure. This alliance seeks to attract high-quality Chinese visitors, aligning with the “Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025” initiative, ultimately positioning Thailand as a prominent global tourism hub.
Collaborative Tourism Strategies
TAT Governor Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool emphasized the initiative’s impact, describing the partnership as a pivotal step towards a long-term cooperation with Baidu. The collaboration is expected to promote Thailand’s tourism brand and key campaigns, aiming to draw quality travelers from China. The initiative not only hopes to boost tourist arrivals but also aims to strengthen Thailand’s ties with significant tourism stakeholders in China. The LOI was signed on February 27, with senior officials from TAT and Baidu in attendance, including key figures such as Mr. Nithee Seeprae, TAT Deputy Governor.
Enhancing Connectivity through Advanced Technology
Ms. Wang Yanli from Baidu expressed enthusiasm about working with TAT, highlighting the potential to deepen cultural exchanges between China and Thailand. Baidu, through its representative in Southeast Asia, Yunshang Technology, and local partner, We Bridge Marketing Solution, aims to utilize its array of services, from AI-driven innovations to Baidu Maps and Cloud services. This collaboration focuses on digital marketing and customized content, targeting to improve Thailand’s tourism image. In 2024, over 6.73 million Chinese tourists visited Thailand, marking them as the largest inbound market, a figure expected to rise significantly through this new agreement.
