As if the world needs yet another music streaming service, it looks like Microsoft might be hopping onto the bandwagon (again). According to a report from CNET, Microsoft “has discussed creating a deliver service that would supply tunes to the Xbox as well as an upcoming Windows-based phone”. Corroborating with the rumor, The Verge also reported that Microsoft will be relaunching its Zune Pass music service with its Xbox Live branding to bring a music service that is described to be very similar to Spotify. There aren’t a lot of details about the new service at this point in time, but it is said to offer video as well as music, and current Zune Pass subscribers will also be able to keep their subscriptions. A holiday season release date is scheduled, and the subscription service is said to be given away to new PC buyers to jump start adoption.
