Bangkok, 30 August 2024 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Nanjing Tuniu International Travel Service Co., Ltd (Tuniu) have signed an agreement to enhance cooperation with the aim of boosting tourism in preparation for the 50th Thailand-China diplomatic anniversary.
Strengthening Thai-Chinese Tourism Cooperation
Bangkok, 30 August 2024 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has signed a ‘Letter of Intent’ (LOI) with Nanjing Tuniu International Travel Service Co., Ltd (Tuniu), a top Chinese online travel service provider. The signing, held at TAT’s Head Office, involved TAT Governor Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool and Tuniu CEO Mr. Yu Dunde, in the presence of Mrs. Chang Yumeng, Counsellor for Cultural Affairs from the Chinese Embassy.
Boosting Tourism for Diplomatic Milestone
Ms. Thapanee emphasized the significance of this collaboration, especially as both nations approach the 50th Anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2025. The agreement aims to increase Chinese tourist arrivals, leveraging initiatives such as the Thailand-China mutual visa exemption and strategic marketing campaigns. Already, over 4.5 million Chinese visitors have been recorded this year, with a target of 7.3 million.
Enhancing Digital Innovation and Visitor Experience
The LOI outlines cooperation in data sharing, promotion, and communication, focusing on enhancing tourism through digital innovation. It aims to streamline travel for Chinese tourists and boost Thailand’s digital economy. Mr. Yu from Tuniu highlighted their shared goals of offering quality travel experiences to foster economic growth. TAT and Tuniu have previously collaborated on health and wellness tourism, summer camps, and ongoing tour package promotions.
