Celebrating Sino-Thai Relations at Siam Paragon
Bangkok, 20 September 2024 – The “Amazing Thailand, Mid-Autumn Night” event at Siam Paragon highlighted the month-long “Nihao Month” festival. This event celebrates the upcoming 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China in 2025. Notable attendees included Mr. Sorawong Thienthong, Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, Mr. Wu Zhiwu, Chinese Minister in Thailand, and Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).
Star-Studded Cultural Celebrations
The evening featured cultural performances celebrating Thailand-China ties, a starry appearance by Chinese actor Luo Yunxi, and performances by Thai stars DaOu Pittaya Sae-chow and Mai Davika Hoorne. Mr. Sorawong emphasized the event’s role in reviving tourism revenue, particularly from the Chinese market, while Mr. Wu praised the celebration as a symbol of unity.
Promoting Thai Tourism
The event welcomed 102 Key Opinion Leaders from China and 520 social media contest winners to explore Thailand’s attractions. Activities, including mooncake-making with Luo Yunxi, and various cultural workshops, aimed to foster tourism. TAT aims to attract 250,000 Chinese visitors during Golden Week, enhancing Thailand’s appeal as a cultural tourism destination. From January to September 2024, Thailand recorded nearly 4.9 million Chinese tourists and aims to reach 7.3 million by year-end.
