Resumption of Condor Flights to Thailand
Bangkok, 23 September 2024 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is thrilled to announce that Condor, a major German leisure airline, has resumed flights to Thailand. The airline will operate four flights weekly from Frankfurt to Bangkok and three flights weekly to Phuket. This resumption marks a significant boost for Thailand’s tourism sector.
Warm Welcome for German Tourists
TAT Governor, Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, expressed optimism, highlighting Condor’s new routes as a positive sign for Thai tourism. The Frankfurt-Bangkok flight (DE2362) was welcomed with a traditional Thai ceremony at Suvarnabhumi International Airport. Key tourism and business executives attended, including TAT’s Governor and Deputy Governor. Meanwhile, the inaugural Frankfurt-Phuket flight (DE2368) received a special welcome at Phuket International Airport.
Positive Outlook for German Market
Condor is using an Airbus A330neo for its Thailand routes, offering Business, Premium Economy, and Economy classes. This adds to existing services by Thai Airways and Lufthansa. According to TAT, forward bookings from Germany for October-December 2024 have risen by 22% compared to 2023. In 2024, Thailand aims to welcome approximately 979,000 German tourists, generating around 65 billion Baht in revenue, signifying a full rebound to pre-pandemic levels.
