The Tourism Authority of Thailand honoured five tourism enterprises with the Responsible Thailand Awards 2024 for outstanding contributions to sustainable tourism at the World Travel Market.
Recognition of Sustainable Tourism Leaders
On November 5, 2024, in London, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) awarded the Responsible Thailand Awards 2024 to five exemplary Thai tourism enterprises. These awards, presented by Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, Mr. Sorawong Thienthong, were part of the country’s participation in the World Travel Market 2024. TAT Governor, Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, emphasized the event’s goal to honor tourism pioneers who advance sustainable tourism and inspire others to prioritize sustainability for societal and environmental benefits.
Celebrating Excellence in Various Categories
The 17th Responsible Thailand Awards highlighted best practices in sustainability across five categories. Recognized were Elephant Hills for Responsible Animal Welfare, Bang Rong Community-based Tourism for Responsible Community Tourism, Khao Lak Merlin Resort for Responsible Conservation, Ms. Wipaporn Ord for Responsible Local Guide, and Anurak Community Lodge for Responsible Tourism Accommodation. Judging praised their commitment to ethical practices, community involvement, environmental conservation, and cultural preservation, setting standards for others in the industry.
Advancing Thailand’s Tourism Goals
TAT marked significant progress toward making Thailand a leading tourism destination, focusing on quality and sustainability. Through its Sustainable Tourism Goals (STGs), TAT encourages eco-friendly practices among tourism operators to minimize environmental impact while enhancing traveler experiences. Expressing a vision for innovation and community partnership, Ms. Thapanee highlighted the importance of equitable tourism benefits and establishing Thailand as a global benchmark for sustainable tourism.
