The Tourism Authority of Thailand and StarDream Cruises launched the Star Voyager, enhancing Thailand’s cruise tourism. The luxury cruise ship promotes Thai culture, aiming to position Thailand as a Southeast Asian cruise hub.
Elevating Thailand’s Cruise Tourism
On April 23, 2025, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and StarDream Cruises launched the Star Voyager, setting a new milestone in Thai tourism. This luxury cruise ship, hosting approximately 1,940 guests, now calls Thailand its home port. Miss Pattaraanong Na Chiangmai, TAT Deputy Governor, emphasized its alignment with the country’s “Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025” initiative, marking a significant advancement for the tourism and maritime sectors.
The Reinvention of StarCruises
The Star Voyager’s debut revitalizes the once-popular StarCruises brand, establishing Thailand as a key cruise hub in Southeast Asia. Freshly refurbished with a $50 million investment, the ship offers premier cruising experiences from Laem Chabang Port. It will conduct exclusive five-night sailings, connecting Laem Chabang, Ko Samui, and Singapore, featuring immersive Thai cultural experiences.
Growing Thailand’s Cruise Economy
Celebrating its inaugural voyage, TAT hosted a vibrant welcome event including cultural performances and souvenir gifts. Passengers partake in activities showcasing Thai culture, supporting the “5 Must Do in Thailand” theme. The cruise sector thrives, with 2024 seeing 162 ship calls and over 379,000 passengers, fostering economic growth. Major ports like Patong Bay and Laem Chabang continue to attract international travelers.
