The Tourism Authority of Thailand celebrates Air France’s new Paris-Phuket direct flight, boosting long-haul connectivity and attracting high-value visitors. This initiative strengthens Thailand’s sustainable, experience-driven tourism efforts.
Expanded Connectivity from Paris to Phuket
Bangkok, 1 December 2025 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) celebrated the launch of Air France’s direct Paris to Phuket flight, marking a strategic extension under TAT’s Airline Focus. This development is key to boosting Thailand’s long-haul visitor growth from France. Flight AF156 takes off from Paris on 27 November at 15.50 and lands in Phuket at 09.25. The welcome ceremony featured H.E. Mr. Jean-Claude Poimboeuf, French Ambassador to Thailand, Ms. Suladda Sarutilavan of TAT Europe Region, and executives like Mrs. Femke Kroese from Air France, alongside local tourism stakeholders.
Strengthening French Tourism Ties
Ms. Suladda highlighted TAT’s strategy to enhance long-haul demand through partnerships with airlines like Air France. France remains a stable source market for Thailand, characterized by high return visitation and luxury travelers. The newly launched flight is central to TAT’s efforts to expand access to valuable tourist segments. Phuket, known for its luxury offerings and stunning landscapes, is ideally positioned to attract French tourists seeking enriched travel experiences, emphasizing sustainability and adventure.
Air France’s Commitment and Future Prospects
Mrs. Kroese noted that the Paris-Phuket service marks a significant milestone, making Phuket Air France’s second Thai gateway during winter. The route runs thrice weekly until March 2026, using Boeing 777-200 aircraft. Air France complements this with two daily flights to Suvarnabhumi. TAT and Air France are collaborating on a digital campaign to enhance Thailand’s appeal in France. From January to November 2025, Thailand welcomed 727,578 French visitors, up by 13.51% year-on-year, with expectations to reach 846,000 by year-end. Key destinations include Bangkok, Krabi, and Surat Thani.
