In Bangkok, parks like Lumphini and Benchakitti are vital green spaces offering solace and ecological innovation. They showcase the city’s commitment to nature, connecting residents with history and urban life.

A Green Escape

In any new city, I seek out parks more than grand temples or bustling markets. As an outdoor enthusiast, daily nature walks ground me, especially in a vibrant city like Bangkok. Parks are insightful, showing locals at ease, enjoying life. Bangkok’s parks are more than green spaces; they’re the city’s vital lungs, offering a connection from athletes to tai chi enthusiasts.

Urban Oases

Lumphini Park, established in the 1920s, is Bangkok’s classic retreat. Morning visits reveal its dynamic essence: cool air, lively jogging paths, an artificial lake with paddle boats, and wildlife like sunbathing monitor lizards. Benchakitti Park, transformed from a tobacco factory, features mangroves, boardwalks, and an elevated skywalk. It’s a ‘sponge city’ marvel managing stormwater, blending nature with urban life beautifully.

Hidden Gems

Chatuchak Park, with Queen Sirikit and Rot Fai Parks, offers vast cycling paths and the Bangkok Butterfly Garden. For urban sophistication, Dusit Central Park integrates vibrant green spaces with shopping and residences. The PTT Metro Forest exemplifies ecological restoration, featuring replanting native species and elevated wooden walkways for quiet introspection. These parks are lifelines, weaving nature into urban existence, enriching both routine and spirit.
