The new Citilink Jakarta–Bangkok service enhances air connectivity, boosting Thailand’s appeal to Indonesian travelers. It supports Thailand’s tourism growth with daily flights and strategic marketing initiatives.
Establishing New Connections
Bangkok, 15 December 2025 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has celebrated the launch of Citilink’s new Jakarta–Bangkok service. This marks Citilink’s first international route connecting Jakarta with Bangkok–Don Mueang International Airport, enhancing air connectivity between Thailand and Indonesia, one of Southeast Asia’s rapidly expanding outbound travel markets. This launch is timely, coinciding with the year-end festive period, offering Indonesian travelers easy access to Thailand’s lively holiday festivities and shopping events.
Positive Market Response
The inaugural flight on 12 December 2025 was a success, operating at full capacity. Miss Pattaraanong Na Chiangmai, TAT’s Deputy Governor for International Marketing – Asia and the South Pacific, underscored Indonesia’s strategic importance for Thailand. She emphasized that the new service, operated daily with an Airbus A320, strengthens accessibility and aligns with TAT’s goal to foster sustainable growth in ASEAN tourism. The flight schedule offers flexibility for both leisure and business travelers, with approximately 5,400 seats available monthly.
Future Collaborations
To further boost Indonesian tourism, TAT and Citilink are planning joint marketing initiatives in 2026. These include digital campaigns, partnerships with travel agents, and media events showcasing Thailand’s diverse attractions. From January to December 2025, Thailand hosted over 735,000 Indonesian visitors, with projections to reach 1 million in 2026. The Jakarta–Bangkok route is Citilink’s fourth international service, following Singapore, Malaysia, and Timor-Leste, enhancing regional connectivity and travel options within Southeast Asia.
