The Global Trade Modernization Index (GTMI) 2024 ranks Thailand 32nd out of 65 countries,
with its digital trade performance at a moderate level.

 * Thailand ranks 32nd on the Global Trade Modernization Index (GTMI) 2024, with
room for improvement in digital trade performance.
 * The country’s moderate digital trade readiness highlights opportunities to enhance
industry efficiency and reduce operating costs.
 * The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) recommends government support for
private sector adoption of digital technologies and the implementation of supportive
laws to boost international trade competitiveness.

The country’s readiness for digital trade has improved, but growth in international
trade in the first quarter was lower than expected due to regional instability,
particularly in Myanmar. Thailand’s performance in reducing paper use in trade and
trade openness in the ASEAN region is notable.

The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) believes the government should promote
the adoption of digital technologies in trade and implement supportive laws. Singapore
ranked first in the GTMI.

The Global Trade Modernization Index measures a country’s performance in digital
trade, indicating that there is room for improvement in Thailand’s digital trade
capabilities. This suggests that Thailand may benefit from enhancing its digital
infrastructure, streamlining trade processes, and adopting more advanced technologies
to improve its overall trade efficiency and competitiveness on the global stage.
