The Department of International Trade Promotion of Thailand says it targets to earn US$ 50 billion revenue from exports to Japan and China this year.
Department of International Trade Promotion director general Miss Nuntawan Sakuntanaga said Thailand was expected to generate 28 billion US dollars from its exports to China and 22 billion dollars from Japan after its campaign to promote Thai exports and to help exporters expand their markets.
She said the department’s main focus has been food, fashion and lifestyle products, health and beauty products, and plastic and electronic goods.
She revealed that the deadly bird flu virus recently discovered in Japan has prompted the Japanese government to revoke its ban on imports of fresh chicken meat.
Therefore, Thai exporters should take this opportunity to penetrate the Japanese market.
Japan has decided to once again import Thai chicken after a 10-year ban, and Thailand targets 80,000 – 100,000 tons of chicken products exported to Japan by the end of 2014.
