The 2024 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences has been awarded to renowned economists

Acemoglu and Robinson are best known for their influential book, “Why Nations Fail,”
which argues that inclusive institutions lead to sustainable economic growth, while
extractive institutions perpetuate poverty and economic stagnation. Johnson’s contributions
further enriched this dialogue by examining the historical contexts that foster
institutional development, providing valuable insights into the evolution of economies.

The award underscores the importance of institutional frameworks in fostering economic
success. By recognizing their collaborative efforts, the Nobel Committee highlights
the critical role that robust institutions play in navigating the complex landscape
of global economics, offering a path toward more equitable and prosperous societies.
