Introducing “Monopoly: Chiang Mai Edition” – TAT Collaborates with Winning Moves UK to Create a Special Thai Version
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched the latest version of the world’s most popular family game – “Monopoly: Chiang Mai Edition,” following the success of “Monopoly: Phuket Edition,” the first special Thai version.
The “Monopoly: Chiang Mai Edition” was created in collaboration with Winning Moves UK under license from Hasbro, the owner of Monopoly. Winning Moves UK has also released a Chiang Mai version of the popular card game Top Trumps.
TAT Director, Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, said, “The launch of the Chiang Mai Edition of Monopoly and Top Trumps game signifies an important step forward in our ongoing efforts to showcase Thailand through engaging and innovative partnerships. We aim to encourage travelers to immerse themselves in the destination and extend their stay by offering more meaningful experiences and interactions with the local community and its charming attractions. These two games serve as enticing reasons to explore Thailand and also make for fun souvenirs for those vacationing here.”
The new “Monopoly: Chiang Mai Edition” board game will allow players to immerse themselves in the rich culture, history, and landmarks of Chiang Mai. The game features over 30 Chiang Mai locations and activities, including Doi Ang Khang, Bua Tong Waterfalls, Chiang Mai Night Bazaar, Chang Moi Road, and the “most expensive” side of the board, represented by the deep blue space of Doi Inthanon.
The official launch of “Monopoly: Chiang Mai Edition” took place on October 11, 2023, at the Chiang Mai Old City Hotel. At the highly anticipated event, Mr. Monopoly himself unveiled the special edition Monopoly board! This memorable and successful night marked the exciting beginning of a journey through the streets of Chiang Mai for board game enthusiasts and Chiang Mai lovers.

“Monopoly: Chiang Mai Edition” and “Chiang Mai Top Trumps” are available for purchase at selected retail stores in Chiang Mai, including Asia Books, Golden Goblin Games, Fizzy, Game Tree, Alurfia in Shelter, Time to Table, Chiang Mai Old City Hotel, Panyaden International School, and Unity Concord International School. They are also available for purchase through online channels.
“Monopoly: Phuket Edition” was launched in March 2022 and can be purchased at various stores and locations in Phuket, as well as through online channels.
