BANGKOK, 21 June 2019 (NNT) – Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha delivered a speech, entitled ’the Future of Thailand and ASEAN’, during the fifth Bloomberg ASEAN Business Summit. The premier confirmed that Thailand, as chair of ASEAN this year, has had the potential and is prepared in all aspects to make progress alongside the ASEAN community.

Thailand has gone through restive situations and solved obstacles to national development, such as the illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing and human trafficking, as well as facilitated doing business to upgrade the country’s competitiveness.

Over the past five years, the government has restored confidence and promoted sustainable economic development in accordance with a 20-year national strategy.

As chair of ASEAN, Thailand is looking to promote sustainability in all respects. The ASEAN Summit aims to achieve success in steering strategies for the promotion of connectivity in trade, investment, tourism and electronic systems and the creation of sustainability in the development of the grassroots economy and improvement in people’s welfare.

Thailand, as the Chair of ASEAN in 2019, has resolved to address all issues including accessing markets through digital channels; supporting access to financial services and enhancing skills for small and medium enterprises and small-scale entrepreneurs, along with women entrepreneurs and fellow workers in a sustainable manner.

 The ASEAN Summit which is hosted by Thailand got underway today at an official level before the leaders’ meeting takes place on the weekend. Thailand’s Minister of Foreign Affairs has emphasized that he will establish equality and promote women entrepreneurs in the ASEAN region to become more widely known.

Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs, delivered a speech at the opening session of the ASEAN Women Entrepreneurs Network Meeting which is one of the important events of ASEAN, focusing on strengthening the economy and enhancing the role of women in order to achieve equality. Many countries in ASEAN have gradually succeeded in achieving this change and ensure the contribution of women gets more attention at every level. It is necessary to focus on sustainable development for the benefit of the next generation.
