BANGKOK (NNT) – At the 22nd World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) presented the country’s plan to achieve 10 million international visitor arrivals by 2022.
As one of the panel speakers on “The Recovery of Travel in Asia and the Pacific,” TAT governor Yuthasak Supasorn highlighted the strategies and measures the TAT was using to achieve these goals while predicting a return to 80% of the pre-pandemic tourism revenue.
Thailand now fully reopened to foreign tourism
Following COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions, which generated significant demand for travel, Yuthasak stated that Thailand’s tourism has become more sustainable, inclusive, and environmentally friendly. He added that Thailand is now fully reopened to foreign tourism and is witnessing a rebound in international visitor arrivals.
According to Yuthasak, the ’Visit Thailand Year 2022-2023: Amazing New Chapters’ marketing campaign, in which visitors are invited to experience the kingdom’s wealth of existing and new tourism experiences, has been one of the most popular tourism campaigns among visitors.
Bio-Circular-Green or BCG Economy Model
TAT stated that the government’s Bio-Circular-Green or BCG Economy Model aligns with the kingdom’s efforts to promote a more responsible and sustainable tourism industry.
The agency affirmed that it would continue to encourage more collaboration between industry and non-industry players and embrace innovation to develop and promote sustainable tourism products and establish a tourism business ecosystem that benefits all parties.
