Discussions at the 7th ASEAN Media Forum emphasized the critical role of media in the region’s integration, particularly in Myanmar, and the challenges ahead. Given Thailand’s proximity to Myanmar and its direct impact from the crisis, it is expected to play a significant role in fostering cooperation and dialogue. The establishment of a UN-style liaison office along the Thailand-Myanmar border was suggested to improve communication and coordination.
ASEAN’s Engagement with Myanmar’s State Administrative Council (SAC)
ASEAN’s constructive engagement with Myanmar’s SAC is crucial, with a particular focus on humanitarian aid and ceasefire negotiations amid the country’s internal strife.
