NTT Data will invest $90 million in a new data center in Thailand to meet rising cloud service demand, primarily offering colocation services for businesses like cloud providers and financial institutions.

Key Points

  • NTT Data, a Japanese IT company, is investing $90 million to establish a new data center in Thailand, driven by the increasing demand for cloud services in Southeast Asia.
  • This will be the company’s third data center in Thailand, focusing on colocation services where businesses can house their servers.
  • Potential clients for the facility include cloud service providers and financial institutions.

NTT Data Corporation announced plans to open a state-of-the-art colocation-focused data center in Thailand, investing approximately $90 million to enhance the country’s digital infrastructure. The facility, poised to begin operations in early 2024, aims to meet the increasing demand for data services in Southeast Asia.

Located in Bangkok, the data center will cover over 20,000 square meters and is designed to accommodate a wide range of customers, from startups to large enterprises. With the region experiencing rapid digital transformation, this development is expected to strengthen Thailand’s position as a tech hub. “This new facility will provide vital infrastructure that supports both local businesses and global enterprises, fostering innovation and economic growth,” stated Takashi Natsume, CEO of NTT Data Thailand.

In addition to colocation services, the center will offer advanced security features and energy-efficient cooling systems to ensure optimal performance. NTT Data’s investment signals confidence in Thailand’s burgeoning tech ecosystem, which has been bolstered by government initiatives aimed at attracting foreign investment in digital technologies.

Experts highlight that such investments are crucial for Southeast Asia as it increasingly becomes a focal point for digital transformation. “As businesses across the region accelerate their digital journeys, reliable and scalable data services will be essential,” emphasized Dr. Ramesh Singh, a technology analyst based in Bangkok.
