Thailand’s digital wallet scheme saw 36.4 million sign-ups, falling short of the forecasted 40 million. The distribution of 10,000 baht to 14.5 million vulnerable individuals is set to commence on September 25 as part of a 450 billion baht stimulus program.
The initial phase is scheduled to commence on September 25, targeting 14.5 million vulnerable individuals, according to a finance ministry official.
The digital wallet program registration concluded with 36.4 million participants, and funds will be distributed to vulnerable groups starting September 25th. The initiative aims to boost economic circulation, with a second phase focusing on strengthening the digital economy.
The government plans to distribute funds to over 14 million people with disabilities, starting September 25th and continuing until September 30th. This first round of payments will be dispersed over four days, with 4 million people receiving funds each day. The funds will be transferred to their digital wallets via the “PromptPay” system, linked to their national ID numbers.
This initiative seeks to bolster local economies by encouraging spending and providing financial relief to those most in need.
