An increase in economic activity following the relaxation of Covid-19 limitations helped Thai consumer confidence improve for a fifth consecutive month in October, reaching a 10-month high, according to a survey released on Thursday.

The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce’s consumer index increased from 44.6 in September to 46.1 in October.

The “Khon La Khrueng” co-payment system is one of the stimulus programs that was introduced during the coronavirus pandemic, and the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) encouraged the government to keep it in place on Thursday.

The FTI also stated that a worldwide recession is anticipated for next year, which will likely cause a new downturn for the Thai economy, which is still working to recover from the effects of the pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war.

The UTCC predicted 18.5 billion Thai Baht would be spent over the course of the 32-day football competition expected to take place in Qatar from November 20 to December 18.
